From time to time, I'll write up episode histories focused on specific characters. These character spotlights show how a character has been used during the various eras of The Simpsons.
You may notice that in these spotlights I break up key episodes into several "eras" of the Simpsons. They are:
"The Rise of the Simpsons" - Seasons 1 and 2, before the show got really good
"The Golden Age of the Simpsons" - Seasons 3 through 8, when the show as at its peak
"The Fall of the Simpsons" - Seasons 9 through 12, when the show began its decline under Mike Scully. I personally consider Season 9 part of the golden age but its simpler to throw in 9 with the other three Scully seasons.
"Zombie Simpsons" - Seasons 13 through 19, the first several under the iron fist of Al Jean and associates, when the show began to really lose its way.
"Zombie Simpsons HD" - Seasons 20 to now, when the show started airing in high definition yet somehow its mostly gotten worse, especially lately.
