Colonel Homer (S03, E20-055)

Homer is pleased because he learned sweat cleans the suit.
Plot Summary
Its time for Season 3's marriage episode!  Upset - and I mean really upset - at Marge for embarrassing him at a movie theater, Homer decides to drive off at night to cool off.  Eventually settling on some redneck bar 100 miles from town, Homer listens to a waitress sing a song that nearly mirrors Homer's current life.  Meeting with the waitress, Lurleen Lumpkin, afterward, Homer tells her that her song touched him like never before.

Upon returning home the following morning, Homer can't help but hum the song at various points throughout the day.  Needing to hear the song again, Homer heads back over who knows how far to Lurleen's trailer to ask for a copy of the song.  Telling him that her songs reside in only one place - her head - Homer insists she get her songs out into the public.  While making a CD for a couple of song, a store manager overhears Lurleen singing and has her song be played on the radio.  It quickly becomes a success, and with Lurleen rising in popularity she asks Homer to be her manager, as no man has ever treated her so nicely "without asking for something in return".

As Homer becomes involved in furthering Lurleen's career, Marge starts to worry constantly about Homer spending so much time with the former waitress.  Although Marge does let Homer know her feelings on the matter, Homer insists his only priority is furthering Lurleen's career.  Worry soon turns to anger as Marge can barely contain her anger during recording sessions and whatnot.  Though Homer does have noble intentions, he is also oblivious to the fact that Lurleen, more and more, continues to fall in love with Homer.

After Homer secures a TV gig for Lurleen on the Hee Haw ripoff "Ya-Hoo", Lurleen attempts to seduce Homer in her trailer, something that takes Homer quite a while to figure out but once he does he leaves in a hurry.  Now conflicted between Lurleen and his family, Homer attends Lurleen's TV appearance, being met by a shady manager whose offer is quickly turned down by Homer.

After Lurleen's first song on the show, her attempts to get into Homer become aggressive, locking the two of them in a room and Lurleen actively trying to make out with Homer.  However, Homer has flashbacks to his romantic career - literally nothing until he met Marge - and finally gets Lurleen to back off.  He tells Lurleen that while he was able to get her voice out into the open, he still values his family over this attempted affair, and breaks her off, selling her contract to that shady manager for $50 shortly afterward.

As Homer comes home to a relieved Marge, they see Lurleen on TV giving a song which pretty much tells what just happened but lets Marge know where Homer's love truly lies.  Then the two have sex.  The end.

Quick Review
As a whole, this was another weak Season 3 episode though still a solid episode overall.  Some good laughs here and there, but nothing really memorable and the quantity of jokes wasn't there either.

Final Score: 7.5
