Looks more fun that "Unnecessary Surgery Land", at least. |
After watching an Itchy & Scratchy cartoon, Bart and Lisa see a follow up ad for the related theme park Itchy & Scratchy Land, with ticket prices cut in half. Immediately they try and convince their parents to go, ultimately succeeding when letting them know about parent-focused attractions in the park. Marge still has reservations after a few previous bad vacations, and wishes that the family wouldn't fight, that they'd do things as a family and get some exercise as well. Soon enough, though, the family embarks on a long and difficult road trip to the park.
As one would expect, the park does an excellent job portraying the theme of cartoon violence, including multiple attractions that put the lives of its customers in risk. After one such adventure on a log ride, the parents decide to split up from the children. Bart then starts picking on the guys dressed in Itchy or Scratchy costumes, culminating in him shooting a stink bomb right into a guy's Itchy costume. The park police catch Bart, and toss him into a detention cell with Homer, who had kicked a guy in an Itchy suit in the butt earlier. Meanwhile its learned that all of the Itchy & Scratchy robots used in parades will rebel against man due to chaos theory, and sure enough that's what they do.
Marge retrieves the two of them, and again is embarrassed by their actions as this vacation is turning out like the others. However, they are soon approached by the newly destructive robots, and attempts to flee are dashed when the last copter has a guy in the Itchy suit more than willing to leave Homer and Bart behind for their previous escapades. Homer, in desperation, throws everything he's got on him at the robots, including his camera, whose flash disables several of them. Realizing their weakness, the family grabs hold of more cameras and quickly disable all of the robots. Upon realizing that the family got exercise and did something together as a family, Marge relents that, yes, this was indeed the best vacation ever though it shall not be spoken of again. At least its faring better than Euro Itchy & Scratchy Land.
Quick Review
After the dud that was the romance clip show, this episode gets Season 6 back on the right track with what ends up being a rather zany adventure, but there was plenty to laugh at along the way. The old Disney parody movies "Scratchtasia" and "Pinnitchio" were well done, too.
Final Score: 9.2
