Thirty Minutes Over Tokyo (S10, E23-226)

How does that plane escape the four of them anyway?
Plot Summary
The Simpsons get robbed through what could be technically considered a cybercrime.  With their savings gone, savings meant for a family vacation, the Simpsons learn from a savings seminar to pinch every penny and take advantage of deals whenever possible.  This allows them to save up some money, where they decide to follow another savings trip: getting plane tickets from no-shows at a discounted price.  They do so, and end up going to Japan.

The family does some stuff in Japan, albeit nothing too related to its culture.  Homer and Bart sneak off to see a sumo wrestling match, but get in trouble there and go to jail.  After being bailed out, the family is left with a small amount of money, which literally flies away after Homer converts the last bill into an origami bird.

With the US Embassy only advising the family to get a job for plane fare back, the Simpsons go to work at a fish guttery.  On the TV there they see a game show where families can get any wish they so desire.  The family enters the show, but its a show meant to punish contestants for ignorance (or just punish them for the hell of it).  They eventually win the tickets, and though Homer chides the Japanese on TV for how they handle game shows, the Japanese couldn't care less.  The family flies back to Springfield, if the plane can get past Godzilla and his pals - or aren't they his enemies, I don't even know.

Quick Review
This episode is alright, nothing special really.  I guess its not a good thing that I can pick out my least favorite part of the episode (the seizure bit), but there was enough elsewhere to keep the Season 10 finale's score respectable.

Final Score: 7.7
